Gordon Schott is a jack of many trades, and when he decided he wanted to add woodturner to his list of hobbies-turned-cashflow, he called JCM to see if we were up to the task. The main development challenge for this project was eCommerce shop design via burgeoning WooCommerce, with a custom product configuration tool.
As our eCommerce platform preference was shifting from Magento to WooCommerce, we decided to try our hand at a little custom development. Gordon had a very particular vision for the way he wanted his custom pen production configuration tool to work, and there was some business logic requirements surrounding supply chain implications, all of which led to the generic plugin approach being unworkable.
We were able to complete the custom development in record speed to keep the total project cost at a reasonable level for a startup business. The ease with which we were able to dive in and customize deep WooCommerce functionality solidified our growing love for the platform.
We also integrated a variety of promotional features for discounts and social tagging/sharing similar to Zenni Optical to encourage organic social media growth for this super niche product.
